Mariko Nakagawa

San Francisco, CA, video and installation

The complex photographic work of Japanese multi-media artist Mariko Nakagawa defies easy description. Her montaged portraits printed on transparent acetate are comprised of individual dots each containing a separate image. The dizzying layers of visual information make it virtually impossible to focus on the entire image and its components simultaneously. Her work serves as a striking commentary on society's current state of information overload.
