This relief process is for some one of most challenging. It requires the printmaker’s full attention and real understanding of what their goal is. Picasso came up with the idea of using one block to create a multiple-color print – he was frustrated trying to register multiple blocks. This workshop consist of 5 sessions consisting of group lecture and demonstration along with one-on-one instruction to guide you through the process resulting in the completion of your own color linocut print.
Emmanuel Montoya, a master printer with the wood and linoleum block, his experience teaching goes back to the mid 1980s. He has been practicing his craft in the S.F. bay Area as an artist for over 35 years. The tradition of contemporary Latin American and Mexican printmakers are his inspiration and an influence.
