Elizabeth Sims
Class #67:
Saturdays, July 28, August 4, 10am-4pm
Tuition $232
The Art of Wabi Sabi prompts students to explore the Japanese aesthetic of organic ephemerality by embracing chance and entropy in their work. Students will work with the spontaneous qualities of Sumi-e Ink, watercolor, and monoprint in order to make richly textured and layered works on paper. Students will learn Sumi-e Ink painting and drawing, various watercolor and gouache techniques, how to mix and work with rich grey (neutral) hues, and monoprint. The class will build skills in texture, layering, abstraction, semi-abstraction and composition.
