Projects in Photography: Critique Group

This class will provide photographers with a structured format to receive feedback on their work, as well as learn about contemporary trends in photography. Methods of critique will be covered along with presentations of contemporary photographers. There will also be visiting artist lectures scheduled over the course of the class.
Adam Thorman received his BFA from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and his MFA from Arizona State University. He is a Bay Area-based artist/photographer whose work focuses on how we perceive our surroundings. Subjects ranging from the exposed intertidal zone to people in the landscape to interior still lives to urban waterways are approached with intimacy and presented with ambiguous scale and context. He creates color photographs and artist’s books which he exhibits nationally, including at the Sam Lee Gallery in Los Angeles and the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, AZ. His work is in the permanent collection of SFMOMA. Until recently he taught photography and digital imaging at Prescott College and formerly taught color printing workshops at Color Arts in San Francisco. He lives in Berkeley, CA and works in Oakland, CA. www.adamthorman.com
