Gum Bichromate

Mary Shisler

Class #74 Saturday-Sunday, August 11-12, 10am-4pm
Tuition $196

Mary Shisler Noted for its delicate color and expressive, painterly characteristic, gum dichromate printing offers the artist unique possibilities because of its flexibility. It may be used as a simple photogram, a complicated multilayered print, or combined with other alternative processes. Students will begin by learning how to make digital enlarged negatives and end with creating finished prints from their own images. On the way, they will learn safe, correct protocols. Depending on the complexity of their images, students will leave with 2-3 finished prints.

Mary K. Shisler has taught at Ohlone SF Photo Center and Kala Art Institute. Her work has been shown and collected internationally. She is known for her work with alternative processes and plastic cameras. Shisler is an Artist-in-residence at Kala.
