This three-day intensive workshop is an exploration of monotype & monoprints using non-toxic water-based Akua Intaglio and Akua Kolor inks.

A variety of monotype techniques will be covered including, direct painting, additive, subtractive, viscosity resists, multiple drop printing, chine colle and the use of stencils. Monotypes will be created by applying ink to a thin plexiglass plate using brushes, brayers and alternative tools. The plates are then run through an etching press. Students are encouraged to bring previously etched plates and dry point plates to create expressive multi-layered monoprints using Akua inks. No previous experience in printmaking is necessary.
