INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOSHOP

This intensive workshop introduces participants to the amazing array of possibilities provided by Adobe Photoshop.

Participants in this useful workshop will learn how to navigate Photoshop's interface and become familiar with its wide array of tools and techniques. The class will also focus on how to make skillful selections and adjust contrast and color. Learn the art of retouching, masking, resolution issues, and how to use layers for collage and photo-composition. Suitable for both commercial and fine artists.

Students are asked to bring images up to 8x10" in size for scanning (photographs, drawings, 35mm slides, transparencies). Your "Photoshopped" image will be output as a high-resolution inkjet print. Bring a blank CD or USB drive to take your image home. Enrollment is limited to 7 students. Basic computer experience is strongly recommended.

David Harding is Art Director for Advertising at a San Francisco poster publishing company that uses Photoshop intensively. David received his BFA in printmaking from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. In 1991, he won a Jerome Foundation Fellowship at Kala, and has also been a visiting artist in Dundee, Scotland. His work is exhibited at the Triton Museum of Art, the Mendocino Art Center, and the California Palace of the Legion of Honor.
