Residency Projects
Kala Gallery is proud to present Residency Projects, featuring new work by our 2011-2012 Fellowship artists. The exhibition includes Kala Fellows Michele Carlson, Randy Colosky, Alison OK Frost, Seth Koen, Vanessa Marsh, Sandra Ono, Francesca Pastine, Lauren Rice and Gail Wight. The gallery presents new work created during the Fellows’ studio residencies in a wide array of media and processes including cut paper sculpture, paper embossments, wood engravings, intaglio prints, print-based collages, photograms, photography and video works.
Kala’s Fellows for 2011-2012 were selected by Kala Directors in association with juror Renny Pritikin, writer, curator and Director of the Richard L. Nelson Gallery and the Fine Arts Collection at the University of California-Davis.
Kala Fellowships are awarded annually to nine innovative artists working in printmaking, photography, book arts, installation, video and digital media. Social practice projects have been included for the first time in Kala’s 2012-2013 Fellowship residencies. Fellowship artists are selected from a competitive field of applicants from North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia. Recipient artists receive a financial award and up to six-months residency at Kala’s studio facility followed by an exhibition of their new work.
